National Park Foundation Celebrates Passage of National Park Week Resolution in United States Senate

WASHINGTON – Will Shafroth, president of the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner to the National Park Service, issued the following statement upon adoption of S. Res. 117 which celebrates April 15 - April 23, 2017, as National Park Week:

“The National Park Foundation commends the United States Senate for adopting a bipartisan resolution to recognize National Park Week. We applaud Senate Energy and Natural Resources’ Subcommittee on National Parks Chairman Steve Daines and Ranking Member Mazie Hirono for their leadership in sponsoring S. Res. 117, and thank the resolution’s 34 bipartisan cosponsors for their support. In celebration of National Park Week, S. Res. 117 encourages all Americans to explore their national parks from April 15 – April 23, 2017. As we welcome the National Park Service’s next century, we applaud Chairman Daines and Ranking Member Hirono for their dedication to America’s special places, and appreciate their efforts to spread awareness about National Park Week through S. Res. 117. The National Park Foundation invites all Americans to take advantage of the countless programs and events taking place across the country during this special week, and to enjoy free entrance to all national parks on April 15, 16, 22, and 23.”
