15 Winter Wonderlands in Your National Parks

WASHINGTON – The National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, released “Winter Wonderlands,” the sixth special edition in its popular and FREE Owner’s Guide series. From ice fishing and sledding, to stargazing and contra dancing, readers will be inspired to check out the 15 suggested destinations and discover even more special places in national parks across the country.

“Our new guide will introduce and reintroduce people to a sampling of the incredible experiences that can be had in our national parks during the chillier time of year,” said Dan Wenk, president of the National Park Foundation. “’Winter Wonderlands’ will inspire both frequent and first-time national park visitors to plan unforgettable wintertime adventures in America’s treasured places.”

The “Winter Wonderlands” guide details top winter activities and how to get to the parks.

Suggestions include:

  • Ice fishing at Acadia National Park in Maine
  • Stargazing at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah
  • Contra dancing at Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio
  • Sledding at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado
  • Hiking at Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina
  • Snowshoeing at Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota
