Washington D.C. — After an extensive, nationwide search, Charles "Charlie" Feeney has joined the National Park Foundation (NPF) as Chief Financial Officer. In this role, Feeney will lead the organization's finance, technology, and accounting departments to advance and grow the Foundation’s mission and enhance its impact.

Feeney most recently served as vice president and CFO of the University of Vermont Foundation, where he utilized strategic and tactical financial planning expertise to maintain financial success of the organization. A notable success in this role included being a member of UMV’s Move Mountains Campaign, which inspired an unprecedented number of donors and gifts, totaling more than $581 million.

“I am excited to be joining the dedicated and talented team at the National Park Foundation,” said Feeney. “I look forward to working with our supporters and partners as we strive to be excellent stewards of the resources entrusted to us to advance the mission of our national parks.”

In his role at the Foundation, Feeney will be responsible for advancing its mission through thought leadership and management of its financial and information technology operations. In partnership with leadership and the board of directors, Feeney will provide high-level strategic solutions to complex issues by designing and implementing sustainable long-run financial and technology strategies.

“We are thrilled to welcome Charlie to the National Park Foundation team,” said Dieter Fenkart-Froeschl, chief operating officer. “His experience and success will be crucial to increasing our impact in parks in the coming years.”

Feeney brings more than 35 years of experience managing the financial success of both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Prior to his role at the University of Vermont Foundation, he held leadership positions at the Society for Science and the Public, McArdle Solutions, Capital Gazette Communications, and USA Today.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Virginia Tech. Feeney is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and multiple networking groups focused on financial management of non-profit organizations.
