Wetlands Student and Teacher Immersive Learning
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve will improve access to the park for local underserved K-12 youth and develop their skills as youth leaders and environmental ambassadors. The three-year project centers on conducting Wetlands Immersive Learning Days (WILD!) and providing fun, culturally relevant weekend gatherings to enable young citizen scientists to share experiences, learn about career opportunities, and build a strong base for sustained stewardship. Up to 8,500 children, families and local groups could visit the sites directly, while thousands more could indirectly benefit. The park will partner with local education organizations and universities.
