Greening our parks for future generations

In partnership with the National Park Service (NPS), the National Park Foundation’s Sustainability and Innovation Program creates pathways to make park infrastructure more environmentally friendly and sustainable, while enhancing environmental stewardship. From decreasing water and energy consumption, to lowering emissions and diverting waste from landfills – this program supports the NPS goal to integrate sustainability practices into all aspects of operations.

The sustainable preservation of our parks is engrained in the NPS mission to preserve unimpaired our nation’s most treasured natural, historical, and cultural places. NPS’ Green Parks Plan acts as a road map to build resilient, green infrastructure and educate park visitors on climate change and sustainability.

The National Park Foundation’s Sustainability and Innovation Program embraces this plan as we help to preserve and safeguard our iconic parks for generations to come.

How You Can Help
