Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site Student Engagement

The National Park Foundation connected Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site to local students who monitored stream mercury levels and nitrogen fluctuation.

Students from Stevens High School participated in two authentic resource management and monitoring activities:

1. In the fall semester, students monitored the levels of mercury in the local stream ecosystem.

2. In the winter and spring, students studied the fluctuation of nitrogen in the watershed.

In addition to biological sciences and chemistry, the trips also included exposure to other park resources relevant to curriculum objectives in Art, History, or English classes.
