Glacier National Park Astronomy Program Expansion

The Glacier National Park Impact Grant enabled park astronomers to expand night sky programs to new audiences, and purchase new telescopes and equipment.

This project enabled the interpretive staff and volunteer astronomers of Glacier National Park to expand night sky programs to additional audiences.

The Impact Grant helped the park to purchase a cargo trailer to transport five telescopes and accessories to various park locations and into the local communities. NPF funds also helped purchase a new solar telescope, which allowed the park to offer daytime solar viewing in additional park areas. Attendance at day and night programs has greatly increased and equipment purchased will have a big impact on night sky interpretation at Glacier for many years to come!
