Concrete to Canyons Youth Wilderness Adventure

Kids taking part in a Concrete to Canyons program at Zion National Park
Concrete to Canyons connected kids from urban Las Vegas with nature on a three-day wilderness adventure to build lasting connections to national parks.

The Concrete to Canyons program connected underserved youth and families from Las Vegas, Nevada with Zion National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and Parashant National Monument.

Concrete to Canyons first introduced Las Vegas fifth-graders to nature through field trips at Lake Mead NRA and Parashant NM. Then, students from the concrete jungle of Las Vegas were taken to experience a three-day wilderness adventure in Zion NP. Emphasizing in-depth wilderness understanding, experience, and stewardship, the program aimed to build lifelong connections to national parks through introduction to, and engagement in wilderness, followed by post-program community development.
