Yosemite For All People

A Park for All People

Yosemite Park Ranger Shelton Johnson tells the story of African American soldiers who patrolled the High Sierra at the turn of the last century.

Through A Park for All People, the story of African American "Buffalo Soldiers" who patrolled the parks of the High Sierra at the turn of the last century is shared. In a film created for this project Yosemite park ranger Shelton Johnson tells their story in the dramatis personae of a Buffalo Soldier himself, directly engaging visitors in a way that is immediate and often high impact.

This film was produced in partnership with WETA and Florentine Films and with generous support from the Haas, Jr. Fund.
