Everglades Park Reality TV Special

NPF America's Best Idea Grant allowed Univision and South Florida National Parks Trust to produce a TV special of a local Spanish speaking families park visit.

Through an America's Best Idea Grant, in partnership with Univision and South Florida National Parks Trust, Everglades National Park produced a 22-minute reality TV special in 2010 that captured a local Spanish-speaking family's first visit to the park.

Cameras followed the selected family of seven as they enjoyed a weekend of facilitated activities including camping, hiking, and sloughing (guided walking off-trail through the river of grass). This program served as an important outreach tool to encourage more families from diverse backgrounds to explore the park.
