Obed Wild and Scenic River

Obed Wild and Scenic River stretches along the Cumberland Plateau and offers visitors whitewater rafting and rock climbing.

The river flows through Tennessee passing through gorges that reach up to 500-feet deep. The area remains much as it appeared when white settlers first arrived in the late 1700s. The river system preserved by the National Park Service includes 45 miles of the river, which teems with a variety of different fish. The park also offers various outdoor recreational opportunities, including several hiking trails that can be enjoyed year-round.
