You might think that setting out for southwest Texas in late July would be unadvisable. In most cases, you could be right; but a group of determined Instagrammers did just that. When news of an Instameet in Big Bend National Park began to spread, individuals from across Texas planned a weekend getaway to the Chisos Mountains for the unique experience.

Hosted by @InstaDFW, @IGAustinTexas, and @IGHouston – and presented by the National Park Foundation and #FindYourPark premier sponsor Budweiser – the #TexasHoldHerHigh Instameet invited social media influencers to make the trek to the Chihuahuan desert with the promise of epic photographic opportunities, special ranger-led hikes, a true Texan cookout, and topped off with an intimate acoustic show by talented local musicians.

The weather turned out to be spectacular (considering the norm for Texas in late summer!), the sunrises and sunsets delivered hues you have to see to believe, and the Milky Way put on a show of its own for all to see.

Scroll down to enjoy the snaps from the event and be inspired to follow in their footsteps and #FindYourPark in this remarkable paradise under a large Texan sky!
