Each year after Thanksgiving, the world celebrates #GivingTuesday. A day that invites us to give back and support the causes that move us, #GivingTuesday celebrates generosity and the power of coming together to make a change. At the National Park Foundation (NPF), it is a day to bring together the community of national park champions to support the places that continue to inspire wonder in all of us – our national parks. Your support on #GivingTuesday helps NPF plan for projects in the upcoming year.

As the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service (NPS), NPF has the honor and responsibility of protecting these special places, working to inspire the next generation of national park stewards, and connecting all people to their parks. With over 400 units in the National Park System, supporting NPS is a vast mission. But we can accomplish this together – we can accomplish it with you.

Our Work

How Are National Parks Funded?
When it comes to donating to NPF, you may have a lot of questions, and we're here to help.

The National Park Foundation is committed to making sure all of our national parks thrive. We protect trails and endangered species in our nation’s treasured landscapes, engage service corps and establish sustainable park infrastructure. We illuminate lesser-known stories in our history and honor our nation’s journey, with all its struggles and triumphs. We celebrate our leaders and those who have fought and continue to work to create a better, more equal future for all. We encourage people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to explore our national parks. Because national parks don’t just stand for where America has been – they inspire where we go next.

This work would not be possible without the support of our partners and park lovers. While federal dollars are by far the largest share of funding for NPS, national parks have always been enriched through private philanthropy. Some of the earliest national parks were secured in large part through philanthropic support, and that tradition continues today as our community of park champions donate both time and money at all levels to ensure national parks continue to succeed. #GivingTuesday is a perfect time to support these places for future generations. Our national parks are calling – how will you answer?

We Need You

2021 has been a challenging year, and we still have so much more work to do for our parks as we look toward the future. There's no better time than now to make a year-end gift – thanks to our longtime partner Union Pacific Railroad, who is challenging us to raise $350,000 by #GivingTuesday on November 30th. When you donate this #GivingTuesday it will be combined with Union Pacific's already committed funds to go twice as far for the parks we all love. You can even encourage your personal network to support our parks by hosting a Facebook fundraiser for NPF
