2014 National Christmas Tree Lighting Will Be December 4

​TICKET LOTTERY OPENS OCTOBER 17

WASHINGTON – The National Park Service and the National Park Foundation are excited to announce the date for the 92nd annual National Christmas Tree Lighting on the White House Ellipse at President’s Park. This year’s kick-off to the holiday season in our nation’s capital will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 5 p.m. Free tickets for the lighting ceremony will be awarded through an online lottery.

The free ticket lottery will open at 10 a.m. (EDT) on Friday, October 17 and close at 10 a.m. (EDT) on Monday, October 20. To enter the ticket lottery, go to www.thenationaltree.org and click the ‘TICKET LOTTERY’ link. Those without computer access may call 877-444-6777 (TDD 877-833-6777). There are 3,000 seated tickets and 14,000 standing room tickets available through the lottery.

Entrants can check the status of their requests starting on November 3 at the ticket lottery page. Winners will be notified via e-mail beginning November 3.

The National Christmas Tree Lighting is presented by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks.
