Grand Teton National Park has partnered with the University of Pennsylvania to design and install green roofs on historically sod cabins and study the performance and success of the roofing system as a preservation treatment. Students, faculty, and park staff will work together to test this innovative approach to stewardship on one of the park’s few nationally significant properties, the Bar BC Dude Ranch. If successful, the park will have identified a sustainable, low-cost, and historically accurate roofing system for over forty structures slated for preservation, which could be applicable elsewhere throughout the park. And all thanks to an NPF Impact Grant!
