Grand Canyon National Park

Legacy Project: Native Plant Nursery

Funding for the Native Plant Nursery will make an expansion of the Vegetation Program's greenhouse possible. The much needed expansion will support increasing demands of revegetation and ecosystem restoration projects. Native plant restoration is crucial to the ecological integrity of the park. The park's native plant nursery houses over 30,000 native plants used in revegetation and ecosystem restoration projects. The current facility is insufficient to meet the needs of the park. This project will expand the facility, providing an energy efficient seed storage facility and passive solar greenhouse. When complete, the nursery will provide an opportunity for volunteers and park stewards to work alongside NPS staff to participate in revegetation and restoration projects in the park.
