A Spectacular trip, with breathtaking scenery.

Visited Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park on September 12, 2008

This year I went to Yosemite, and King's Canyon NP with my Aunt and Uncle from Arizona. I visit them yearly. I had convinced them to take this trip because it was only 1200 miles away... Gas prices almost derailed that. I've seen pictures and heard of all the things that the parks are famous for. But none of that does it any justice.

Yosemite in itself is huge, it took us about an 1 1/2 from the south entrance, just to get to the visitor center. We went there first to reserve tickets for the grand tour (the one that includes everything and lunch) worth every penny. The tour guide was wonderful. Also it frees you from having to concentrate on driving so you can enjoy the scenery. After two days (went by too fast) we drove down to King's Canyon, which is part of Sequoia NP. We were not allowed into Sequoia due to the length of our motor home (road is to windy).

Anyways, I could not believe how clean the air was, I mean you could actually smell the forest around you, (I live in the city back home). The sky too was the bluest I have ever seen. Then there are the giant sequoias. OMG!!! I did see the ones in the Mariposa Grove at Yosemite, but these are even bigger. General Grant took center stage (now the second biggest, Washington Tree broke making it shorter). General Grant is 40 feet wide at its base!!! I had a terrific time even though it did go by way to fast. I recommend this even if you just get away a short time. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, enjoy.
