Washington Monument
Built in honor of the United State's first President, George Washington, this National Monument stands as the tallest structure in Washington, D.C. Shaped like an Egyptian obelisk, it is 555’ 5/8” high and made of marble, granite, and bluestone gneiss, it took 36 years to complete. From the top viewers enjoy 30 to 40 miles visibility in clear weather.
The Washington Monument is located near the west end of the National Mall.
