Cedar Breaks National Monument

Resting on top of the Colorado plateau, at over 10,000 feet in elevation, a breathtaking view awaits. Millions of years of sedimentation, uplift, and erosion are carving out this giant amphitheater, that spans some three miles, and is more than 2000 feet deep.Chiseled from the variegated Pink Cliffs (Claron Formation) near Cedar City, Utah, Cedar Breaks National Monument preserves a deep canyon of rock walls, fins, spires and columns. The rim of the canyon is forested with islands of Englemann spruce, subalpine fir and aspen; separated by broad meadows of brilliant summertime wild flowers.
