National Park Foundation Announces "Egg-Cellent Egg-Venture"
The National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, is happy to announce the 2011 “Egg-cellent Egg-venture” – a virtual Easter Egg hunt through our national parks. Each day through Friday, April 8, 2011, a photo of one of the official White House Easter Eggs hidden in a national park will be posted to the Foundation’s Facebook page.
Participants who successfully identify which park is featured in that day’s photo will be entered into a daily drawing to win a four pack of the souvenir eggs. Individuals can also view and purchase the souvenir egg online at: easter.nationalparks.org. The National Park Foundation produces and sells the official White House Easter Egg to help support the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. The beloved event takes place on the South Lawn of the White House each year on the Monday after Easter. The White House is part of Presidents Park, one of the 394 sites protected within the National Park System.
This year’s White House Easter Egg comes in four pastel colors – purple, pink, green, yellow – and includes the stamped signatures of the President and First Lady. In a continued effort to make the Easter Egg Roll more environmentally friendly, all eggs have again been crafted in the United States from Forest Stewardship Council-certified hardwood. The packaging has also been designed to minimize waste and environmental impact, helping to create a ‘greener’ Easter egg and Easter egg packaging.
The 2011 Easter Egg Roll will take place on Monday, April 25th. The White House Easter Egg Roll is focused on promoting health and wellness with the theme, “Get Up and Go!” For more information about the event, visit http://www.whitehouse.gov/eastereggroll
