Thanksgiving is a joyous and reflective time. It’s a time to think about all the different reasons that we’re grateful, and we want you to know how thankful we are for park lovers like you! Our national parks are extremely fortunate to have such a passionate community supporting them, and the parks are made stronger because of the care and concern of supporters like you.
Did you know that our national parks are also a great place to celebrate Thanksgiving? Our friends at Everglades National Park in Florida are encouraging people to start a new tradition this year and “get outdoors for Thanksgiving!” They’ve added a bunch of additional ranger-guided programs November 27-30 including tram and boat tours. And our friends at Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in California are inviting kids of all ages to “shake off that turkey and act like a turkey” while having a blast doing fun obstacle courses with park rangers! And we’ve even heard that prizes will be awarded!
However you decide to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, we hope you know that we’ll be thinking of you all. We also hope you’ll join us in showing our appreciation to all of the women and men of the National Park Service, the local Friends Groups and the park businesses and concessioners, and thank them all for their dedication and commitment to America’s more than 400 national parks.
One more thing - don’t forget that after Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday – a day when generous people like you give back! Please help protect and preserve your national parks this Giving Tuesday, December 3rd!
