Giving Thanks for the Parks This Holiday Season

By Marjorie Hall on 11/17/2010

During the Thanksgiving holiday, many of us find ourselves around the holiday table reflecting on the good times we have spent with family and friends. For millions of Americans, many of these joyful memories were made in one of America’s national parks.  Whether hiking, swimming, biking, or just exploring, national park experiences bring family and friends together. As you prepare your holiday gift list this year, we hope you’ll consider including a gift to the National Park Foundation.

Now more than ever, America’s nearly 400 national parks need your help.  Without your support, the National Park Foundation cannot maintain its mission to protect the fragile ecosystems and wildlife habitats that exist in our parks, secure the thousands of acres of parkland needed for new and existing parks ,and facilitate essential trail restoration needed nationwide. Without your support, the national parks that we have grown to love will not be here for future generations to enjoy.

This year, to help inspire us all to remember the national parks during this season of giving, Roxanne Quimby known for her eco-friendly personal-care line Burt’s Bees and a longtime supporter of the national parks, has agreed to match contributions made to the Foundation  between now and December 31, 2010 up to $50,000.  Please join Roxanne in supporting the National Park Foundation by making your gift today.
