ABOUT NPF

Local Foundations

In fulfilling its congressional charter, the National Park Foundation promotes “philanthropic programs of support at the individual park unit level”. Complementing the efforts of the National Park Foundation to encourage private philanthropy for parks are over 180 local park support organizations. Beginning in 1994, the National Park Foundation provided start-up funding to launch and incubate many of these support groups, and to help them develop more effective fund raising programs.

Use the links to the left to learn more about the current local funds supported by the National Park Foundation, and explore how each is connecting Americans to National Parks in their local communities.
